Environmentally friendly Fibres and Flocks from sustainable sources

Cosmetics

Fibres & Flocks

Precision short cut fibres are used as a direct reinforcement in cosmetic products such as nylon fibres in mascara. Milled flocks are more likely to be found in applications where the natural chemicals present in animal hair or silk are removed by chemical processing to extract Keratin or Seracin. Other fibres such as viscose are commonly used in the manufacture of hygiene products.

Nylon is a generic designation for a family of synthetic polymers known as polyamides. Nylon is one of the most commonly used polymers and has found applications in everything from tooth brushes to textile manufacture. The most common grades used in industrial reinforcement are Nylon 6 and Nylon 6.6

Wool is a natural fibre that has been used in textile manufacure for thousands of years. It has good dye affinity and is therefore widely used in the manufacture of high quality carpets. It is commonly used in insulation and felting applications and ground wool can be chemically treated to release natural Keratin for use in the manufacture of cosmetics and personal care.

Silk is a natural protein fibre, some forms of which can be woven into textiles. The best-known type of silk is obtained from the cocoons of the larvae of the mulberry silkworm. Ground silk can be chemically treated to release sericin which is used in the manufacture of cosmetic products manufacture.
