Goonvean Fibres offers a wide range of specialist cut fibres and random cut fibre flocks to reinforce natural and synthetic rubber polymers. Regarded as normal compounding ingredients, our range of fibres enables us to offer a vast choice of fibre products boasting a number of benefits and applications.
Fibres are compatible with standard rubber processing techniques, mills, calendars and extruders, and fibre reinforced rubbers can be injection, transfer or compression moulded. Fibres and flocks also improve the ‘green’ strength of unvulcanised rubber and the hardness and/or modulus of vulcanised rubber. Polyester fibres and flocks are widely used to reinforce a number of products including raw edge V belts, timing belts and hoses.
Viscose fibres and flocks are used in solid rubber tyre manufacture, while cotton flocks are also widely used in belting applications, automotive seals and vibration mounts.
Flocks treated with Resorcinol Formaldehyde Latex (RFL) offer improved fibre adhesion to the rubber. We also offer specialist flocks such as meta-aramids and para-aramids, which give dramatic improvements in rubber tensile strength and fire resistance.
Typical grades in current usage include cotton flocks CD 60, CL 60; polyester flocks PE 60; viscose flocks RM60; para-aramid flock KEV 60, meta-aramid flock NOM 60 and treated nylon flocks N 1000 RFL etc.
