CastingGoonvean Fibres offers a variety of short cut fibres for use in investment or wax casting applications. The fibres In combination with high-technology waxes and specialist alloys are used to produce castings that allow the production of components with accuracy, repeatability, versatility and integrity in a variety of metals and high-performance alloys. Polyester and nylon fibres are commonly used in refractory for investment casting slurries. The addition of fibre to the slurry provides reinforcement in the shell construction by adding permeability during shell firing.

Precision cut Polyester fibre is a very strong and stable manmade fibre that is widely used in many industries. Polyester is resistant to stretching and shrinking and perhaps more importantly for industrial applications it is resistant to abrasion and acid degradation. Polyester has a relatively high specific gravity, leading to it dispersing well in water and a relatively high melting point making it a good all round choice for a variety of applications. The short cut 3.3 decitex grade is widely used in the manufacture of lead oxide paste with cut lengths 1.6mm and 3mm being most common.

Nylon is a generic designation for a family of synthetic polymers known as polyamides. Nylon is one of the most commonly used polymers and has found applications in everything from tooth brushes to textile manufacture. The most common grades used in industrial reinforcement are Nylon 6 and Nylon 6.6
